Three generations of hospitality
ALL WELCOME
We welcome you to our beloved pilot hotel in Charlotte’s Belmont / Plaza Midwood Neighborhood. Refuge is an experiment that’s in live production. This limited engagement will retire in 2024 to make space for a larger, full scale hotel development that we are planning to have rise above Central Avenue at this location.
We are excited to introduce ourself and share more about the history of our project and our plans.

This is a rare picture of the whole family together. We’re standing outside of one of the first motels our dad and uncles built. The family lived a few doors to the left of room 102, so we were quite literally born and raised in the hospitality business.
Five Rooms.
Each different, all beautiful.
We’re experimenting with unconventional room configurations and designs to learn what works best for you. Take a look, and take your pick.
Often, what’s celebrated as high design is Eurocentric — modern styles with steel finishes and very little color or texture. Most of the sleek, Western designs say something like, “You don’t belong here” or “Don’t get comfortable.” We want to create a space that says something about our culture. Something that communicates the diversity, richness, and aesthetic beauty of India.
Representing our heritage through design isn’t a gimmick. It’s tantamount to who we are.
